In terms of social and political equality, what country affords women the same rights as men? We often think that women have more rights than women in the rest of the world, and this is certainly true if one is comparing the cultural environment to the Middle East. In some countries in the Middle East, for example, women cannot vote, drive, own property, be alone with a man, or work free from harassment. But what about countries? Europe? In the United States, we do have the advantage of our rights protected by the Constitution. But what about the cultural attitude towards women? Are women really considered equals or are we just thought of in terms of sexual playthings? And does the pay gap exist in other countries? And how do workplaces in other nations handle paid maternity leave?
